COTABATO CITY— Young Bangsamoro athletes excelled at the 11th BIMP-EAGA (Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines-East ASEAN Growth Area) Friendship Games 2024 held in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, from December 1 to 5, 2024.
The prestigious event brought together talented athletes from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
The Bangsamoro Government, through the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) and the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), congratulated the Bangsamoro athletes who secured eight medals, including one gold, three silver, and four bronze, in various sports competitions.
Medal-Winning Athletes
Gold: Erika Said (Pencak Silat, Bebas Solo Creative Female)
Silver: Alrasheid Bara (Pencak Silat, Bebas Solo Creative Male), Sharmaine Balabul (Pencak Silat, Seni Tunggal Female), Shiela-Mae Usman & Nurpaina Juripae (Pencak Silat, Ganda Female)
Bronze: Nasrifah Esmayaten, Areej Andamun & Sherry Valdez (Karatedo, Women’s Team Kata), Dayang R-Yahada Mahadali, Fatima Leanndra Mae Tackong & Rheanna Mae Tackong (Pencak Silat, Seni Regu Female), Aljhomer Jimlan & Omar Nasul (Pencak Silat, Seni Ganda Male), Aljibar Abdu, Alwalid Ahajan & Bohenmian Rhapsody Tackong (Pencak Silat, Seni Regu Male)

“The BSC takes great pride in their success at the recent Friendship Games, especially as it marked the historic first participation of BARMM, highlighting the region’s growing unity and strength through sports,” said the BSC.
Meanwhile, the BYC said these outstanding athletes, hailing from the provinces of BARMM, have not only showcased their relentless dedication and passion but have also brought immense pride and honor to the Bangsamoro community.
“Their remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration for future generations who share similar dreams in sports and strive for excellence,” the BYC post stated.
