JOLO, Sulu – The Bangsamoro Government achieved another significant milestone by granting 100 housing units to families in two municipalities in Sulu, offering not just new residences but also hope for an improved quality of life.
The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) led the ceremonial awarding event on May 4, presenting the newly built houses to 50 families each in Pitogo, Kalinggalan Caluang and Tangkuan, Omar. This initiative is part of the BARMM’s comprehensive resettlement and rehabilitation program.
Notably, MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra emphasized during the awarding ceremony in Indanan that while MHSD constructs the houses, it is the responsibility of the beneficiaries to turn them into homes imbued with Sakinah (tranquility), Mawaddah (love), and Rahmah (compassion) in line with Islamic principles.
“I-tuturn-over namin itong mga bahay sa inyo pero kayo ang gagawa para ito’y maging tahanan. Dapat nandoon ang tatlong requirement sa paningin ng Islam, Sakinah, Mawaddah, and Rahmah,” Barra said.
[We will turn over these houses to you, but it is you who will turn them into homes. It should embody the three requirements in the Islamic perspective: tranquility, love, and compassion.]
K. Caluang Mayor Nurshamier Halun and Panamao Mayor Al-Frazier Abdurajak personally received the completed housing ready for occupancy. They expressed their heartfelt thanks to the BARMM for the project.
Moreover, Atty. Najira Hassan, the MHSD-Sulu Provincial Director, shared that this was not the first housing settlement awarding ceremony in Sulu as two awarding ceremonies were held in Indanan. She expressed gratitude to the recipients and noted that more housing projects are in the pipeline for the province.
A beneficiary, Julma Ablu, who has nine children, expressed profound appreciation to BARMM that they will now stay in their new home, foreseeing a prosperous and thriving community ahead.
MHSD also broke ground for 40,500,000.00 pesos worth of 50 units of housing project in Capual, Omar. With the promise of additional housing initiatives, BARMM demonstrates its commitment to improving the lives of its people and building a brighter future for the upcoming generations.
