COTABATO CITY—The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) is currently overseeing the construction of a public market worth Php15.5 million in the coastal town of Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao del Norte.
The project, being managed by the MILG, is part of the 2021 Support to Local Moral Governance (SLMG) program under the Office of Chief Minister, which provides funding for infrastructure projects.
Maguindanao del Norte OIC Governor Abdulraof Macacua, MILG Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo, and Mayor Zulficar Panda, among other mayors of the province attended the groundbreaking ceremony on April 15.
Minister Sinarimbo noted that the public market would generate business opportunities and employment for the local residents.
“This would help the local government units (LGUs) generate income, improve its revenue stream and possibly improve its income classification,” he said.
Mayor Abdul Rauf Tomawis of Barira, Mayor Pahmia Manalao Masurong of Buldon, Datu Marshall I Sinsuat of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Datu Salaban Diocolano of Kabuntalan, Zohria Bansil-Guro of Matanog, Datu Umbra Dilangalen of Northern Kabuntalan, Cahar Ibay of Parang, and Ma Rona Cristina Flores of Upi were among present during the event.
