COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) is committed to promoting the “5-Throwing Sports” to boost sports development in the Bangsamoro region.
This move comes after the “Throwing Incentives Program Presentation” was launched by the “5-Throws-For-All” incorporation on April 12, in Pasig City.
The “5 Throws for All” is a non-profit and non-stock corporation that promotes five throwing events: the Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw, and Weight Throw.
The organization has three core programs that include providing incentives to throwers, donating throwing implements to local governments, schools, and groups or clubs, and organizing competitions and training sessions.
Atty. Alberto Agra, President of Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation, Inc. (POSF), led the launch. BSC Executive Director Salihwardi Alba was also present during the event.
He stated that Bangsamoro athletes can benefit from the same incentives by sending national players, coaches, and trainers to train coaches, players, and technical officials in the region.
According to Director Alba, “the athletes competing in this event (5 throws) will benefit through the Incentive program for throwers. They have the possibility to compete to win the Gold, Bronze, and Silver in National and International competitions.”
He also mentioned that a sports clinic for athletics will be held in May at MSU-Marawi, and he hopes that many athletes will participate.
Meanwhile, a BARMM sports enthusiast, Nazzer Rashid Mua, commented on the promotion of 5-Throwing Sports, saying, “these 5-Throwing Sports events require strength, endurance, and determination among the athletes.”
He added that many Bangsamoro athletes possess the required skills that may lead them to become future stars in these sports events. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
