COTABATO CITY—A total of 25 youth organizations received notices of completeness during the Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s (BYC) pop-up event on June 20, signifying they met all certification requirements for the upcoming Bangsamoro parliamentary elections in 2025.
The BYC employees provided prompt assistance to youth organizations, guiding them through the submission process.
“This initiative underscores the Commission’s commitment to foster public participation by engaging and supporting youth from various parts of BARMM in governance processes,” a BYC post stated.
According to Bangsamoro Electoral Code (BEC), reserved seats for sectoral representatives shall constitute at least ten percent (10%) of the Parliament’s members.
This includes two (2) seats for Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples and settler Communities, and one seat each for women, youth, traditional leaders, and the Ulama, with a minimum of eight (8) sectoral representatives.
The said certification is essential for youth organizations aiming to participate in the upcoming election, ensuring they meet the necessary qualifications.
Youth organizations in Lanao del Sur with Marawi City, Basilan with Lamitan City, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi can submit their documents to the BYC office located in their respective areas.
This decentralization facilitates easier access for youth organizations outside Cotabato City, ensuring inclusivity and broader participation across the BARMM region. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO with reports from BYC)
