COTABATO CITY—A total of 33 local government operation officers (LGOOs) are ready to serve after completing their rigorous 8-month training on June 28, 2024, at the Shariff Kanunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC) inside the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) here.
Themed “Sulong LGOO: Laging Itataas ang Dangal at Pag-asa ng Bayan,” the graduation rites celebrated the milestone achievement of Batch 56, also known as Layag. Having been equipped with essential skills, these graduates are now positioned to be catalysts of change in Bangsamoro communities.
The Minister of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba said the Batch 56 or Layag signifies a voyage, a journey across vast expanses of the Ministry’s shared aspirations and dreams.
“You are now equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of local governance, to innovate, and to inspire. The true measure of your success will not be found in titles or accolades but in the lives you touch, the communities you uplift, and the integrity with which you serve,” she said.
The graduates were also recognized with the awarding of certificates of completion and special citations. Top honors were awarded to Najerah M. Alibasir (Top 1), Al Washie B. Yahiya (Top 2), and Ysmael M. Canda (Top 3 ) for their outstanding performance, reflecting the program’s focus on excellence, leadership, and dedication.
Local Government Academy (LGA) Executive Director Thelma Vecina voiced her support, highlighting that she stands alongside those who share the goal of serving our country and believes that true national development stems from robust local action and governance.
“The opportunity at hand is to bring new lives and more hope for a brighter future, especially in the Bangsamoro. An opportunity that requires the very best out of you as LGOOs,” Vecina said.
Meanwhile, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim emphasized the critical roles of LGOOs, noting that they carry the hopes and aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
“Your commitment to excellence and service will be crucial in our collective effort to build a progressive and self-reliant Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao, under the leadership of MILG and with the guidance and support of LGA,” he said.
“You have undergone rigorous training to prepare you for these crucial roles. MILG’s guidance and dedication, along with the comprehensive training provided by the LGA, have been instrumental in shaping you into competent and committed public servants,” he added.
The Chief Minister added that the training has provided the knowledge and skills needed to tackle future challenges, preparing the officers to drive change and improve local governance, thereby promoting sustainable development. (Majid Nur/BIO)
