COTABATO CITY—Former rebels from Maguindanao del Sur are now certified skilled workers after completing their respective trainings from the Bangsamoro Government on March 4, in Brgy. Kamasi in Ampatuan town.
A total of 45 former rebels from the adjoining towns of Shariff Aguak, Pagatin (Datu Saudi Ampatuan), Mamasapano, and Shariff Saydona also known as the SPMS-box completed masonry NC II training for 29 days, carpentry NC II for 41 days, including the Values Transformation Training (VTT) for three days.
Each of them received a cash allowance and certificate of training with the help of partnered Technical Vocational Institutes (TVIs), VMC Asian College Foundation Incorporated, and Goldtown Technological Institute Incorporated.
This is under the Bangsamoro Scholarship Program for TVET (BSPTVET)-Tulong Tekbok Para sa Bangsamoro (TTPB) of the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education-Technical Education Skills and Development (MBHTE-TESD).
The MBHTE-TESD Maguindanao Provincial Office led the graduation with the support of Office of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament Teng Ambolodto and the 601st Infantry Unifier Brigade, 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division, Philippine Army (PA).
“We hope for the best that the graduates may find better livelihood opportunities as they possess the necessary skills,” Ambolodto stressed.
Furthermore, 601st BGen Oriel Pangcog showed full support for the development of skills for post-conflict reconstruction and development. He added that “Providing skills training is one good initiative in improving the livelihood of former radicals.”
The completers also received financial assistance worth P6,840 for Carpentry NC II and P4,140 for the Masonry NC II. (Myrna S. Tepadan/BIO)
