COTABATO CITY—Five (5) Ministries from the Bangsamoro Government received honorary recognition on Thursday, March 2, from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for their exemplary support by paying the highest amount of withholding tax for Revenue District No. 107 Cotabato City, which contributed to the district’s goals and targets for the taxable year 2021.
This was awarded during the kick-off ceremony of the BIR Tax Campaign held at the BIR Building, SK Pendatun St., in this city.
Among the Ministries recognized include the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Public Works (MPW), and Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).
Speaking on behalf of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, MFBM Minister Atty. Ubaida Pacasem emphasized that the Government of The Day is continuously working towards improving the tax collection process through digital transformation.
“We believe that the cooperation between the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bangsamoro Government will pave the way for a more efficient and effective tax system, and we are also working towards creating a contextualized Bangsamoro Revenue Code that is reflective of the unique setup of the Bangsamoro,” he said.
Pacasem added that the BARMM government eyes on creating a tax system that is more efficient, transparent, and equitable for all.
“We recognize that taxes are a necessary obligation, but we also understand the importance of ensuring that the process is fair and reasonable, especially for the Bangsamoro,” he said.
