COTABATO CITY—Fifty exhibitors are offering their various food and non-food products from different parts of the Bangsamoro region in a Trade Fair inside the premise of the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city during the month-long observation of Ramadan 2024.
The Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT) organizes this annual event, serving as a testament to the rich heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of the Bangsamoro region.
Both employees inside the BGC and visitors will enjoy a wide array of Bangsamoro products, including delicious food and unique gift items perfect for the Ramadan season.
Themed as “Ramadhan is the month of patience and reunification,” the fair provided a welcoming space for individuals of all backgrounds to come together, share in the festivities, and foster a sense of togetherness.
“The Bangsamoro people gladly welcome the month of Ramadan, which brings peace to the soul of every Muslim all over the world,” MTIT Minister Abuamri Taddik said.
He emphasized the fair’s role in promoting cultural understanding and economic development within the region.
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims commonly observe fasting from dawn until sunset, engage in increased prayer and reflection, and participate in acts of charity and community service.
This period of spiritual reflection and self-discipline is deeply ingrained in the Islamic tradition, fostering a sense of empathy, gratitude, and solidarity among believers.
In addition to showcasing local delicacies and handicrafts, the trade fair aimed to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them with a platform to promote their products and services.
Asma Udtog, owner of Haniya’s Food Product, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the event.
“We are blessed and excited to be part of bringing the community together to celebrate Ramadan and showcase the local Bangsamoro products,” she remarked.
The fair will run until April 5, 2024, open from 3 to 10 p.m.
