WAO, Lanao del Sur — Fifty (50) housing units under Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim’s flagship project were turned over to its beneficiaries on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Barangay Buot of this town.
The housing units are part of the Kapayapaan sa Pamayananan or KAPYANAN of the Office of the Chief Minister intended for the poorest of the poor, internally displaced persons, martyrs of war, indigenous people, and other members of marginalized communities.
Construction was made possible through the exptertise of the First District Engineering Office of Ministry of Public Works (MPW) Lanao del Sur.
District Engineer Abolcair Langilao was thankful to the Bangsamoro Government that his office was entrusted to implement one of the vital projects of the regional government.
“We have a lot of project both regular and special project being implemented and we’re glad that we were able to implement them well,” Langilao said.
As the ceremonial turnover was ongoing yesterday, one of the beneficiaries expressed his happiness to be chosen among those fifty families who received the housing units.
“We have a house but it’s made up of light materials which had been dilapidated over the years,” said 45-year-old Asalan Ampatua.
Ampatua, father of four and a skilled worker, said that at his age he is no longer capable of doing heavy leg work due to a health complication thus receiving a house from the Bangsamoro Government brings so much joy to his family.
While providing equitable housing is continually marred by challenges including availability of land, former government official and public servant residing in the area happily donated 1.5 hectare portion of his land.
Lominog Polayagan said that prior to his retirement from government service in 2018, it had always been his dream to establish a community where love, respect, and islamic values are enshrined.
“I have a vision to make this village a thriving community, which has always been my dream,” he said.
KAPYANAN Project Manager Engr. Mohammad Abdullah reminded the beneficiaries to take care of the core shelters citing that his team will do constant monitoring even after the core shelter has been turned over to ensure that units are utilized properly.
“We have a dedicated staff to monitor our facility to ensure that our beneficiaries are compliant with our agreement,” said Abdullah.
He added that this initiative is on top of the forged agreement between KAPYANAN and the beneficiaries where proper usage of the core shelter and other conditions were clearly stipulated.
KAPYANAN emphasized that the project was funded through the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and implementation was continued when the Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law was ratified in 2019. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
