SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA— Twenty five more indigent families in the region will benefit from 25 decent housing units under the Resettlement Project of the Ministry of Human Settlement and Development (MHSD)— the housing arm of the Bangsamoro Government.
To be constructed in Barangay Kibayao, Kapalawan, Special Geographic Area (SGA), MHSD officials unveiled the design of a state-of-the art housing project during the groundbreaking yesterday, Oct. 17, 2024.
With a 48-square-meter floor area, the unit will have three bedrooms. It features a dining area, living area, kitchen, and one common toilet and bath. Its concrete walls will have a smooth cement plaster finish on semi-gloss paint, with tile flooring and pre-painted rib-type galvanized iron (GI) sheet roofing.
As he welcomed the participants to the groundbreaking ceremony, Director General Esmael Ebrahim disclosed that beneficiaries will be selected based on identified guidelines.
“The selection of beneficiaries will be based on guidelines identified by the Housing and Human Settlements Division in line with the community’s needs and inputs from local stakeholders and to be announced at a later date,” Ebrahim explained.
Ebrahim emphasized that the provision of housing units to the poorest of the poor in the region, including those who have lost their homes due to human-induced and natural calamities, is part of the priority thrust of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.
He further said that MHSD has already turned over more than 1000 completed housing units, while around 4,000 are under construction.
While MHSD exemplifies moral governance in their service delivery, SGA Provincial Director Hamzah Salik reminded everyone in the event that “the services are always to please Allah SWT first and foremost”.
“We should always remember that everything we do for our fellow Bangsamoro is part of our worship to Allah,” Salik said.
He added that these initiatives are all manifestations of the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to a more developed region.
Aside from these housing units, MHSD is also implementing the same projects in strategic locations across the region. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
