COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) is urging the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) to work in solidarity thru passing relevant laws and programs to uplift the life of the Bangsamoro people.
During the peace rally held in this city on Sept. 21, Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) Chairperson Guiamel Alim appealed to the BTA to “work towards building social cohesion, inter-tribal unity, promote justice, tolerance and understanding towards healing, reconciliation, and national unity.”
He also appealed to the national government to continue supporting the peace process in the region.
“We appeal to the national government to sustain the gains of the peace process by faithfully abiding with the terms of the peace agreement even as we implore the sincerity of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to make their share,” Alim said.
Simultaneously, peace rallies were also conducted in other various areas outside BARMM such as Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao region, Sultan Kudarat Province, General Santos City, and Pagadian City in observance of the World Peace Day.
The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is observed around the world annually every 21st of September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations Resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
Meanwhile, Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao said that world occasions like this should always remind us on the primacy of global peace at one hand and detestation of war on the other.
“I am honored for being given a chance to take part in this historical event. I convey my message of support to this event and world peace,” said Matabalao.
Matabalao said that peace convergence of local CSOs like the CBCS and its fellow peace stakeholders need to be consistent in pursuit of peace works and related advocacies. (Majid Nur /BIO)
