JOLO, Sulu — The Bangsamoro Government is advancing community development in the province of Sulu with a series of infrastructure projects led by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG).
On July 28, a turnover ceremony was held for the newly completed public markets in the municipalities of Indanan and Panglima Estino, as well as village halls in the barangays of Takut-Takut and Chinese Pier in Jolo. These new facilities are expected to enhance trading conditions and local governance, thus improving the quality of life of the residents.
Key officials including Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal, and MILG Minister Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba graced the turnover ceremony, which was part of the “TABANG Bangsamoro sa Sulu” convergence activity of the regional government also on July 28.
“Labis kaming nagpapasalamat sa mainit na pagtanggap ninyo sa amin; we really feel na talagang welcome na welcome kami dito,” said Ebrahim during the convergence.
[We are very grateful for your warm welcome; we really feel that we are very welcome here.]
Barangay Takut-Takut Chairman Nurjaden Serajani, Barangay Chinese Pier Chairwoman Mernesa Ladja and other local officials were present to express their appreciation to the efforts of the Bangsamoro Government.
In addition to the turned over facilities in Sulu, the MILG is also constructing two municipal halls and a municipal police station, with another police station nearing completion. A reformation center is also ready for handover, demonstrating the government’s commitment to rehabilitation and social justice.
The MILG is also prioritizing access to clean water in the province through the installation of desalination machines. Five units have already been turned over, with four more currently under construction.
Additionally, the BARMM READi Emergency Operation Center, a crucial facility for disaster response and preparedness, is also under construction.
MILG’s further community development efforts in Sulu also include the construction of a community activity center and 34 more barangay halls.
The successful completion and progress of these projects underscore the BARMM’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development which are all part of CM Ebrahim’s priority agenda. (Alline Jamar M. Undikan/BIO)
