COTABATO CITY—More Bangsamoro students in remote areas and former combatants will benefit from BARMM’s school and training facilities, following a series of groundbreaking and turn-over ceremonies held on Feb. 10 in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
To ensure that students can still get better access to education even in far-flung areas, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) will be constructing a 1-unit with 2-classroom building at Barangay Pura.
Three (3) units of the 1-classroom building were also turned over to schools in the barangays of Tubuan and Nalkan.
The Education Ministry said all school beneficiaries were identified based on their need for additional classrooms for their learners and teachers. Accordingly, Bangsamoro students will benefit from these safe, secure, and disaster-resilient classrooms.
During the ceremony, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal emphasized that “the construction of school building projects is an ongoing program of the MBHTE to all the schools division offices, higher education institutions, including the Technical Education and Skills Development or TESD training centers.”
The DBS Local Government Unit (LGU), through its Mayor Datu Marshall Sinsuat and Vice Mayor Raida Tomawis Sinsuat, extended their gratitude to the Bangsamoro Government for the endless support and assistance they bring to the community, especially after being hit by Typhoon Paeng last year.
Meanwhile, the MBHTE recently turned over a total of seven (7) Skills Development Centers at Camp Badre, Datu Odin Sinsuat, of this town in partnership with the Australian Government and Philippines Business for Social Progress.
The camp’s transformation aims to streamline former combatants back to society. The training courses that will soon be offered in the center are Electrical Installation and Photovoltaic (PV) Installation.
Minister Iqbal highlighted the importance of the said training center for Bangsamoro former combatants and families, which will help them acquire new skills to support the socio-economic situation in the region.
“This center is one way for the communities in the camps that is part of the Camps Transformation Program where former combatants and their families will be given skills training that they can use for their livelihood, and in turn, make them into productive members of the society,” Iqbal said.
