The Bangsamoro Government conducted an initial relief distribution to families affected by the Focused Military Operation (FMO) against some lawless elements in the province of Maguindanao on Friday, March 15.
A total of 6, 595 families from the seven (7) municipalities in Maguindanao are affected by the FMO namely, Mamasapano, Datu Salibo, Shariff Aguak, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Unsay, Datu Piang, and Shariff Saidona.
At least 812 families from the towns of Datu Unsay, Datu Salibo, and Datu Saudi Ampatuan received food packs containing 6 kilos of rice, canned goods and packs of coffee during Friday’s relief operation.
The operation was spearhead by the region’s Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team (HEART) and the Ministry of Social Services(MOSS).
Myrna Jo Henry, HEART Information Officer, said they will resume the relief operation next week to cater other affected municipalities in Maguindanao.
The Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) launched a surgical air and artillery mission on March 11, 2019 in the confirmed target areas of Maguindanao particularly in Salibu-Pagatin-Mamasapano and Shariff Aguak to combat the identified groups involved in perpetrating terrorist activities.
