LANAO DEL SUR—The Bangsamoro Government, through the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), dispatched truckloads of food supplies intended to feed 11,007 daycare learners in the province’s first district.
Throughout the distribution period from Feb. 19-25, 2024, a total of 405 child development centers (CDCs) and supervised neighborhood play areas (SNPs) situated in municipalities of Balindong, Bubong, Buadiposo Buntong, Ditsaan Ramain, Marantao, Maguing, Masiu, Mulondo, Piagapo, Poona Bayabao, Saguiran, Taraka, Tamparan, Tugaya, Lumba Bayabao, and in the city of Marawi, received essential goods intended to feed their indigent learners.
Under the 13th cycle implementation of the Supplementary Feeding Program, the CDCs and SNPs were provided with a set of food items, including special milled rice, eggs, dried anchovies, chayote, potato, mung beans, corned tuna, hotcake mix, champurrado mix, brown sugar, dried noodles, glutinous rice flour, all-purpose flour, and cooking oil. Each set was meticulously portioned to provide hot meals for the children throughout the 40-day feeding program.
“We, the Child Development Workers (CDWs) and the parents, are very pleased because the meals to be served to the daycare children during the feeding program are nutritious, which will contribute to their improved health,” remarked Jalaleah M. Jamaloddin, a CDW from Barangay Sawer in Masiu.
As a standard procedure for each cycle of the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) implementation, MSSD social workers conducted immediate and thorough inspections of the food supplies to ensure their quality, quantity, and timely distribution to the beneficiaries.
According to Adelaida Mohammad Ali, the Provincial Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of MSSD Lanao del Sur-1, the ministry is now closely monitoring the feeding program’s implementation in its partner learning centers.
The CDCs and SNPs of the remaining provinces of the region, including the second district of Lanao del Sur, are also scheduled to receive the same set of food supplies in the coming weeks.
The SFP is a nationally-funded initiative that aims to address the issues of malnutrition and hunger among underprivileged children aged 2 to 5 years old, who are enrolled in CDCs and SNPs.
