COTABATO CITY—The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) recently held a series of successful community-based information drives on public order and safety in various communities in the Bangsamoro areas.
Over 500 participants joined the events in April to learn more about MPOS’s efforts to promote public order and safety and to gain practical knowledge on how to contribute to the cause, which aimed to empower the community to take an active role in promoting public order and safety and create a safer environment for all.
The activities commenced on April 9, in Pikit, Special Geographic Area (SGA), and concluded on April 17, in Cotabato City.
Participants included individuals, community leaders, members from law enforcement agencies, local government units, representatives from youth sectors, women, and religious and traditional leaders.
MPOS Development Management Officer V Bhenhar Ayob expressed his sincere gratitude to the participants, saying, “We are aiming for a peaceful Bangsamoro, and our duty is to strengthen our Islamic brotherhood.”
Fahad Jamal, a participant from Marawi City Police Station shared his experience in the said program.
“Layunin naming mga pulis ang mapaigting pa ang mga ugnayan natin at ng komunidad […] isa itong mahusay na activitity at sana madami pa ang mapuntahan natin na mga lugar para mag disseminate ng mga information drive upang maging mapayapa ang bawat komunidad,” Jamal said.
Meanwhile, Ustadza Anisa Taha from the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) emphasized the crucial role of women in promoting a culture of peace within the household.
“Take care of your home, for that is your jihad (struggle). A systematized, progressive, and peaceful community begins with the mother’s care,” she said.
The activity was under the Ministry’s Coordination with Law Enforcement Agencies in the Region (CLEAR) Program as well as the facilitation of the Ministry’s Home Affairs Services – Law Enforcement Coordination Division (HAS-LECD). (Majid Nur /BIO with reports from MPOS)
