COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT) is encouraging the Bangsamoro youth to explore Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurship, particularly in the realm of technology.
During a seminar on digital business held on July 22 at the Senior High School Auditorium of Notre Dame University (NDU), in partnership with NDU and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the event highlighted the importance of digital business and technology in fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
“In a world where technology is advancing at an unprecedented pace, we have an incredible opportunity to leverage these innovations to address some of the most pressing social challenges we face. Digital technologies offer us powerful tools to enhance education, improve healthcare, promote economic development, and strengthen community engagement,” MTIT Director General Roslaini Alonto-Sinarimbo said.
She added, “Together, we can create a future where technology serves as a catalyst for social progress.”
Meanwhile, Tomoyuki Naito, vice president and professor of the Graduate School of Information Technology at Kobe Institute of Computing in Japan, presented various topics including leading digital business, creating innovative digital businesses through mobile technology, and showcasing successful social innovators in the Global South.
Naito encouraged the youth to be evidence-based thinkers. He said, “Try to look at issues people are facing; Try to think about a solution using mobile; and Try to consider a business model to monetize the solution.” (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
