COTABATO CITY – As part of its efforts in ensuring food sufficiency in the region, the Bangsamoro Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) distributed 60 heads of cattle to farmers from this city and from the Special Geographic Area (SGA).
With a total worth of P2.1-million, the cattle were funded under the General Appropriations Act for Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2022. The beneficiaries received them on March 9 and 10 during a hand over ceremony held at the MAFAR-SGA Satellite Office and in Barangay Poblacion 8 of this city.
“We are glad and thankful that finally we are able to distribute and give some intervention to our beneficiaries,” said Disumimba Rasheed, assistant to the provincial director for SGA and Cotabato City .
“We all know that aside from meat production, these animals will also serve as their helper in their farming activities,” he added.
Three (3) associations from SGA each received four heads of cattle, while two associations from Cotabato City each received three heads. Furthermore, a total of 42 individuals from the two areas each received a head of cattle.
Cotabato City Poblacion 8 Barangay Chairman Nasrudin Mohammad expressed his gratitude to the ministry as some of the beneficiaries were from his village.
“We are very thankful that since the inclusion of Cotabato City in the BARMM Government, we have benefitted from some programs allotted in the city,” Mohammad said.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries from Barangay Kalanganan II, Ms. Ayao said, “I am thankful to the leadership of MAFAR and BARMM Government for providing us this assistance. This is a big help for me especially that I am a widow.”
