COTABATO CITY—Upon learning of the demise of the two (2) Overseas Bangsamoro Workers (OBW) who died in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Bangsamoro Government thru its Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), provided financial aid to the bereaved families and discussed other assistance they may receive.
Under the program of Assistance for Repatriated Abused Overseas Bangsamoro Workers, the families of Maricel Colado and Juvilyn Masandil received P10,000.00 cash from MOLE as immediate relief on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, in this city.
Meanwhile, Director General-Designate Datu Surab Abutazil, Jr. led the home visitation to hand over the financial support and offer condolences to the bereaved families.
Accordingly, the two OBWs were both residents of this city.
Maricel Colado, who worked as a domestic worker in Al Bahah, KSA, died on Dec. 11, 2022 at Al Bahah Hospital. She died due to an enlargement of the heart, according to her recruitment agency.
Meanwhile, Juvilyn Masandil, also a domestic worker in Riyadh, KSA and who had lost contact with her family for more than 3 years, was slain by her employer.
Following the demise of the two, Overseas Worker Welfare Bureau Director Annuarudin Tayuan assured the protection and promotion of OBWs’ rights and welfare.
Tayuan further disclosed that the Ministry will continue to coordinate with the family of the deceased OBWs for other possible benefits they may receive.
