PUALAS, Lanao del Sur— The Bangsamoro Government spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Level III climate-resilient water supply system with treatment facility in this town on May 06, 2024.
The ceremony marked a crucial step in addressing the ongoing problem of water shortages in the area. Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim emphasized the project’s importance, stating that the facility “is just one of the many development projects of the Bangsamoro Government to address the shortage of clean and adequate water in towns across BARMM.”
“A beautiful aspect of this project is its climate resilience, ensuring that even during El Niño, it will not easily deteriorate and continue to provide relief for all”, Ebrahim added.
The construction of this project is funded under the Special Development Fund (SDF) of 2023. This collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pualas and the Bangsamoro Government was initially solidified through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on February 21, 2024.
Pualas Mayor Amanoden Ducol expressed gratitude for the support extended by the Bangsamoro Government, affirming, “Through the perseverance of the LGU-Pualas and the trust of the Bangsamoro Government, just like water, peace and hope will flow into the town of Pualas.”
Member of the Parliament Marjanie Mimbantas-Macasalong and Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Director-General Engr. Mohajirin Ali were also among the key officials who witnessed the ceremony.
The construction of new water supply systems in the different parts of the region echoes the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure resilience and ensuring access to clean and sustainable water sources for its communities.
This project is also poised to serve as one of the models for climate-resilient infrastructure development across the region, offering hope to the Bangsamoro residents amidst environmental challenges. (Norjana Malawi/BIO)
