COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) is calling on young peacebuilders to take an active role in promoting peaceful 2025 elections.
During the 4th Bangsamoro Peace Fellowship held in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on Sept. 4, MPOS Peace Program Officer Sittie Janine Gamao emphasized the need for the youth to contribute to maintaining peace.
“This fellowship is not just a program; it is a call to action for every young person in the Bangsamoro to be the guardians of the peace our forebears fought for,” she said.
Gamao also reminded participants of the sacrifices made by the Mujahideen to secure the peace enjoyed today in the Bangsamoro region.
“Next month marks the filing of candidacy for the 1st Bangsamoro Regional and regular elections, a historic event that will define the future of our region,” Gamao added.
One of the participants, 21-year-old youth leader Al-Adzran Sali from Tawi-Tawi, highlighted the significance of the fellowship.
“Training the youth in peacebuilding is crucial, especially ahead of the election. We want peace during this election, as it will pave the way for the next generation,” he said.
Sali added that the role of the youth goes beyond voting: “We scrutinize the leaders because our future depends on them.”
