As of July 11, a total of 4,193 families suffered from Tuesday’s flooding and were given initial help, according to the data from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).
LDS has 3,545 family casualties, as assessed, in its various municipalities, to wit: 1,845 in Malabang, 1,617 in Balabagan, and 83 in Marogong. On the other hand, MDN has a total of 648 affected families—486 in Barira and 162 in Matanog.
The flooding began Tuesday afternoon after a heavy downpour caused by Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
Ebrahim stated that due to the unforeseen catastrophe, Quick Response Teams were deployed, spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi), which supported the Search and Rescue Operations of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) and other local DRMMOs.
He added that other agencies, such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Philippine Marines, among others, also extended aid to the victims.
Ministry of Public Works (MPW), alongside affected local government units (LGUs), conducted road-clearing operations, contributing to the convenient delivery of goods, necessities, and social service initiatives.
Additionally, the Bangsamoro DRRM Council issued directives about preparing for and responding to the effects of the weather systems in the BARMM.
The Chief Minister urged the general public to stay vigilant and actively cooperate with the authorities.
“Mahalaga na ang mga mamamayan ay maging alerto at magkaroon ng sapat at totoong kaalaman hinggil sa nararanasang sakuna. Ipagdasal natin ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan, kabilang ang ating mga Search and Rescue Teams,” he underscored.
