COTABATO CITY – Transfer of medical equipment and supplies to the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will now be easier as the Ministry of Health (MOH) opened its satellite office in Zamboanga City.
Inaugurated on Feb. 27, the sub office will serve as a storehouse for medicines, vaccines, and other equipment needed by residents in the island provinces.
MOH Assistant Secretary Dr. Abdulhalik Kasim thanked the city government of Zamboanga for allowing the Bangsamoro Government to set up a satellite office. “This is an important event for the MOH. It’s not just a structure but a legacy of the BARMM region,” he said.
“Asahan po ninyo na ang serbisyo ng BARMM ay magiging efficient at mabilis papunta sa mga island provinces,” Kasim added.
Present during the inauguration ceremony were MOH Minister Dr. Rizaldy Piang, Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe, DOH- IX Regional Director Dr. Joshua Brillantes, Zamboanga City Medical Center Chief Dr. Afdal Kunting, and Bureau of Quarantine Region IX Head Dr. Omar Aranan (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
