COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro government, through its Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), recognized outstanding grassroots peacebuilding projects during the awarding ceremony for the 2024 Peace Champions on Monday, Sept. 30, at Pagana Function Hall, here.
The annual search, organized by MPOS’s education division, highlights individuals who have initiated unique and impactful peace projects in their communities.
MPOS Minister Hussein Muñoz underscored the importance of these grassroots initiatives in fostering peace across the Bangsamoro region.
“Today, we are here not just to honor individuals, but to recognize the collective efforts that have brought us closer to a peaceful and harmonious Bangsamoro region. Your strong commitment and creative approaches have contributed to the peace we are building together,” Muñoz said.
He reminded attendees that the journey toward lasting peace requires resilience, patience, and a deep commitment to understanding.
“The journey towards peace is never easy. It requires resilience, patience, and above all, a strong belief through continuous understanding,” he added.
Abdulnasser Binasing, Executive Director of Tiyakap Kalilintad Inc. and one of the judges, praised the peacebuilders for their work in empowering communities and making a real difference.
“To our awardees, your contributions to the Bangsamoro peace process are truly inspiring. You have shown us that even in the face of adversity, we can choose the path of peace and work together to build a brighter future for our children and generations to come,” Binasing said.
He encouraged others to follow the example set by the awardees, striving for a Bangsamoro where peace, justice, and prosperity prevail.
