COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) has started the investigation on the recent incident which killed seven (7) Bangsamoro individuals in Barangay Madidis, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur.
Last week, June 19, the BHRC promptly conducted a Quick Response Visit (QRT) to provide immediate support and assistance to the affected families.
Prior to the visit, the commission issued a statement, expressing condolences for the loss of seven (7) lives of Bangsamoro individuals during the raid carried out by members of the Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday dawn, June 18.
The purpose of the visit was to extend support to the victims’ families, assure them of an impartial investigation, and provide assistance in seeking justice for their loved ones.
During the visit, the QRT team informed the families that this was the initial step taken by the BHRC to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation into the incident.
It underscored the BHRC’s commitment to uncovering the truth behind the killings and ensuring justice for the victims.
“We call upon all relevant authorities to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation into this tragic incident. The BHRC is committed to closely monitoring the progress of this investigation and working diligently to ensure that the rights of all individuals involved are upheld and respected,” BHRC said.
Additionally, the Commission will offer both financial and legal assistance to the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) passed a resolution on June 19, condemning the killing incident and calling for an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
