COTABATO CITY—To strengthen the advocacy on Basic Human Rights across the region, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC), in partnership with the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) Inc., launched on Oct. 24, the handbook and training manual for basic human rights.
The Handbook on Basic Human Rights for Community Human Rights Advocacies and Training Manual on Basic Human Rights in the Bangsamoro aimed to provide practical guidelines and technical information on human rights education to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Representatives from various BARMM ministries, CSOs, religious sectors, and concerned constituents in the region were part of the several consultations and workshops to draft the said book.
BHRC Commissioner Archie Buaya emphasized that the protection of Human Rights is everybody’s responsibility in the institution of the Bangsamoro.
“We believe na ang handbook na ito ay magagamit ng (BARMM) community natin, and of course, ang protection—hindi pwedeng mawala ang protection na ating isinusulong,” Buaya said.
BDA Project Coordinator Marbawi Edza said this is one of the milestone projects with BHRC to strengthen human rights advocacy in the region.
“Talagang ininsure natin na kapag i-roll out natin yung training manual ay talagang mayroong na-organize at na-form na grupo—sila [iyong] ang i-train natin na magiging kasama natin sa ground pagdating sa usaping human rights,” Edza said.
BDA will soon reproduce 100 copies of the book which will be distributed to the CSOs and other partners in the region to advocate fundamental human rights.
The implementation of the said project is under the Justice and Society—Enhancing CSOs Capacities for Inclusive Development Intervention in BARMM of Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) funded by the European Union (EU). (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
