COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Thursday emphasized the Government of the Day’s unwavering dedication to advancing the role of Bangsamoro women in regional progress and sustainable development.
This commitment was highlighted during the launch of the 3rd cycle of the Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (RAPWPS) at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC), Bangsamoro Government Center on the said day.
Dubbed as 2nd RAPWPS (2023-2028), the 6-year plan seeks to improve the involvement of Bangsamoro women in national efforts at conflict prevention, resolution, and peacebuilding across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
“This manifests our commitment to creating a society where the rights and contributions of women are recognized and promoted, and where peace and security are not mere aspirations but are realities for us in the government, and more importantly, the people in the grassroots,” he emphasized.
Moreover, he shared that RAPWPS is a testament to the Bangsamoro Government’s collaborative efforts in addressing the challenges faced by women during conflict and post-conflict situations.
Ebrahim further noted that the plan also includes measures to advance women’s economic opportunity, access to healthcare and education, participation in decision-making, and protection from gender-based violence.
“This plan embodies a holistic approach, addressing not only the immediate security concerns but also the long-term development and empowerment of women in the Bangsamoro region,” he stressed.
The formulation of RAPWPS is one of Chief Minister Ebrahim’s Enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda, which aims to promote inclusive development for women as well as sustaining peace and security across the region. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
