COTABATO CITY — In response to the requests of the Regional Statistics Committees (RSCs) nationwide, members of the Regional Statistics Committee-BARMM held a three-day training on Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel on April 16-18, 2024, at Hall 1, Mall of Alnor, Cotabato City.
The training was spearheaded by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) attended by representatives from various ministries, offices, and agencies.
Mastering Data Management is a complimentary training provided by PSRTI to all RSC members nationwide aimed to capacitate them on effective data management, analysis, and presentation. Further, a training on ‘Infographics’.
According to PSRTI, who also conducted the same training in 2023, “This training is mainly a guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel.”
Aside from enhancing the knowledge and skills of the participants in the use of spreadsheets, the training course will allow better organization, presentation, and analysis of day-to-day data using Google Sheets and Excel spreadsheets.
It also enables the trainees to create and format spreadsheets, learn to sort and filter, create formulas, use a range of functions, and get to work with pivot tables, charts, and other functionalities in preparation for basic data management and its application to real-world data.
Meanwhile, PSRTI is the research and training arm of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) and an attached agency of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
It is mandated by Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, the PSRTI carries out its dual function primarily for the development of statistical theories, concepts, and methodologies in support of a statistical infrastructure that is compliant with the demands of national development.
