COTABATO CITY—BARMM’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) recently helped 40 women fish processors improve their packaging and labeling abilities.
The Fisheries Post-Harvest Training, held on July 25-26 in Barangay Borakis, Balindong, Lanao Del Sur, aimed to enhance their marketing skills through innovative techniques, efficient storage practices, and hygienic processing methods.
Chief Aquaculturist Al-Nizar Dimaporo expressed gratitude to the MAFAR-BARMM Fisheries Postharvest and Marketing Division OIC-Chief Ms. Radma Isnani and the MAFAR Municipal Office of Balindong for the assistance and for making the training possible.
“The training is fostering a sense of empowerment and self-reliance among women fishery processors in Balindong who were engaged in the fishery business, including selling dried fish,” she said.
“This initiative not only promises a brighter future for women fishery processors but also contributes to the sustainable growth of fishery communities and the overall well-being of the industry,” she added.
This effort to sustain agri-fishery production and food security aligns with Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim’s Enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda to strengthen regional food security by improving production and promoting the value chain. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO with reports
