Jolo, Sulu— In a move to promote positive youth engagement in society, three sectors of the Bangsamoro government forged a partnership to construct a youth development center in this province.
On June 18, the Special Development Fund-Project Management Office (SDF-PMO) led the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), and Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) at the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in Cotabato City.
Funded through the FY 2022 SDF, the collaboration aims to establish a Provincial Youth Training and Development Center in Sulu to empower Bangsamoro youth with vital skills, knowledge, and leadership qualities.
SDF-PMO Deputy Project Manager on Planning and Coordination and Bureau Director of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Melanie Indar emphasized the harmony and collaboration among various BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies in guiding Bangsamoro youth towards holistic education and success in their future endeavors.
“The agreement symbolizes collaboration and the remarkable achievements that can be realized when we unite our efforts,” said Indar.
She added that the facility, once completed, will not only address the immediate needs of our youth but also lay the foundation for long-term development and prosperity in our region.
MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra also underscored the ministry’s broader role in BARMM’s development beyond housing projects, expressing pride in contributing to youth guidance through the training center.
“The MHSD has been building not only houses, but we are also happy that we are contributing to building a training center to guide our youth,” Barra said.
On the other hand, Senior Minister Abunawas Maslamama highlighted the importance of the agreement in outlining roles for offices involved in the project’s implementation.
BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding stressed the initiative’s significance in preventing youth recruitment by violent extremists, underscoring the SDF-PMO’s oversight of SDF-supported projects’ implementation.
