COTABATO CITY – With several activities lined up, the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) will kick-off this year’s National Women’s Month (NWM) celebration in the region on Monday, March 8.
BWC chairperson and Member of Parliament Bainon Karon said the celebration aims to consolidate all efforts towards strengthening the capacities of Bangsamoro women as active partners in nation building and regional development.
“We want to redefine the platform of engagement for women empowerment between and among different stakeholders amidst the pandemic,” she added.
Highlight of the month long activities will be the 1st Bangsamoro Women’s Summit which will be attended by Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons from the BARMM’s different offices and ministries, and women sector from the region.
BWC, in partnership with its different development partners, will also set up booth for ‘Serbisyo para kay Fatima’. The commission will also conduct Orientation on Gender Sensitivity Training, Care Work and Listening Sessions, Health Mission & Conversation Session with Women in Tugaig (Camp Abubakar), and many more.
Celebration in the region carries the tagline “Fatima Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!”
NWM is in pursuant to Proclamation No. 227 series of 1988 providing for the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History Month, and Republic Act. 6469 series 1990 declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
