COTABATO CITY—On its formulation of the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) for 2023-2028, the Bangsamoro Government ensured that participation and contributions of various stakeholders will be ‘inclusive’ as the 1st BDP is now on its final term.
During the latest consultation workshop for the formulation of 2nd BDP held on Friday, Oct. 7, in this city, representatives from 23 different civil society organizations (CSOs), the academe, private and business sectors across BARMM were among the sectors consulted.
The consultation was spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), through the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) as its technical secretariat in partnership with the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
“BPDA wants to ensure that the CSOs, academes, and private sectors will take part in this endeavor through providing relevant information that will be incorporated in the 2nd BDP,” said Engr. Mohajirin Ali, BPDA Director-General.
Ali shared that the 1st BDP is about to conclude, prompting the call to formulate a successor plan to sustain the gains and pursue the development thrusts, direction, priorities, and strategies outlined therein.
“We want to make this plan inclusive. So now, we are conducting consultations to collect data and information and solicit comments and suggestions from you,” Ali said while presenting the salient features of the said plan anchored on the enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda of the Chief Minister.
On his part, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim gave emphasis on prioritizing the realization of the said agenda for the next three years while urging the participants to cooperate and work closely with the BPDA along with the five sectoral committees of the BEDC.
Mowafe Sarigan, a representative from Muslim Youth Religious Organization, Inc.(MYROi), shared, “it was a good opportunity for us to be heard, and impart our observations and recommendations in the BDP-2 formulation,” noting that they are already working and monitoring on the ground.
The activity was the third leg of the region-wide consultations, following the consultations held in Cotabato City, Special Geographic Area (SGA), and Maguindanao. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
