COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Government’s Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) through the Administrative Management Services-Human Resource Management Division (AMS-HRMD) recognized employees during the culmination of the Biggest Loser Program on Nov. 23, 2023.
In her video message, AMS Director Narcisa Macog celebrated and honored the achievement of winners and participants who have shown efforts and dedication throughout this transformative journey.
“This program has empowered individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle,” Macog said.
“We applaud the winners for their outstanding accomplishment but let us not forget that every participant is a winner in their own right. Each individual’s commitment to personal growth and well-being has set an example for others to follow,” she said.
Lady Hanifah Mindalano, Chief Administrative Officer of AMS-Human Resource Management Division, highlighted, “We actually have a legal mandate for this; the constitution mandates us we have to provide means and ways for our communities to live a healthy lifestyle.”
“Here in OCM we decided to make it more formal and official, so we invited offices such as the clinic and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission, as well as sought guidance from experts, including representatives from the National Nutrition Council.
Mindalano shared, “In our two seasons, we didn’t have any group exercise, it’s up to the participants to exercise and lose weight, which is not healthy, so for this season we invited the BSC.”
“They [BSC] help us every Thursday to do sports activities. They helped us by sending us their sports coordinators like teaching us martial arts, zumba among others that fit their body types,” she added.
Meanwhile, Nutrition Program Coordinator National Nutrition Council-BARMM Marilyn Valeza said this program is part of the Philippines’ plan of action for nutrition to address the problem of overweight and obesity not only among children but throughout the life cycle.
“We unite to combat the triple burden of malnutrition, addressing not only undernutrition but also overweight and obesity,” she added.
The biggest loser program commenced last Sept. 23, and ended on Nov. 23, 2023, with 50 participants from various BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies.
Ten winners were announced, comprising five men and five women, honored at the conclusion of the event. The first-place recipient received Php20,000 in cash, a stationary bike, and a certificate while others were awarded consolation prizes of Php5,000 and certificates. (Majid Nur/BIO)
