LUMBAYANAGUE, Lanao del Sur — The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) conducted a groundbreaking ceremony on May 7, 2024, to commence the construction of a 50-unit housing resettlement project in this town.
MHSD Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra emphasized that the ministry’s housing projects are primarily intended for communities whose shelters were heavily affected by previous conflicts and calamities.
“These housing projects, which we evenly distribute among LGUs [local government units], are intended for our mujahideen, victims of calamities, and all other indigent people in our communities,” said Minister Barra.
During the ceremony, Barra also recognized the important role of the LGUs in implementing the housing projects.
“We seek the help of the LGUs, especially in the construction of housing, because they are the ones who know the people within their localities. This is also the reason why we chose LGUs that have suffered so much during the years of conflict,” he added.
In his message, Member of Parliament (MP) Marjanie Mimbantas-Macasalong shared that the efficient and evident implementation of these projects is one of the milestones of the Bangsamoro Government since its inception.
“One of our proud accomplishments with the arrival of the Bangsamoro Government is that we do not have any ghost projects. Truly, if we look at their projects [of the ministries], there are really no ghost projects. We make sure that their projects are implemented for those who truly need them,” said MP Macasalong.
Lumbayanague Vice Mayor Sultan Arimao Asum promised that their LGU would fully commit to focusing on the construction of this 50-unit housing resettlement.
According to Municipal Mayor’s Chief of Staff Mohammad Aiman Langlang, they ensured that these houses would have adequate water supply because of their proximity to the water system previously built by the Ministry of Public Works in their town.
This housing resettlement project in Lumbayanague, Lanao del Sur, is funded by the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB 2024). Another groundbreaking ceremony was also conducted on May 9, 2024, to officially start the construction of 50 houses in the Municipality of Kapatagan, through MHSD’s Special Development Fund.(Norjana Malawi/ BIO)
