DAVAO CITY—On the second day of the Information and Media Summit, Oct. 19, Director-General Jose A. Torres Jr. of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) highlighted the pivotal role of information officers in upholding Moral Governance within the Bangsamoro region.
Director-General Torres stressed the importance of ethical and transparent communication in fostering moral governance.
He underscored that information officers play a vital part in promoting values and principles that are essential for effective governance and sustainable peace.
“By promoting transparency, ethical decision-making, inclusivity, and accuracy, you contribute significantly to the Moral Governance of our country,” Torres stressed.
The summit, which brought together government officials, media practitioners, and communicators, served as a platform to discuss how information officers can contribute to the enduring peace and prosperity of the Bangsamoro region.
The discussions delved into the critical role of media and communication in creating an environment where the community is well-informed about developments, initiatives, and policies.
Torres also highlighted the national government’s strong commitment to supporting Bangsamoro communicators in bridging the information gap.
He mentioned that the National Government plans to conduct a series of workshops in the coming months for both national and local media, aiming to bolster educational efforts as a means of narrowing the information gap.
The summit, carrying the theme “Amplifying Voices, Nurturing the Gains of the Peace Process: The Role of Communicators in the Bangsamoro Region”, will conclude on Oct. 20.
