PATIKUL, Sulu – Through the regional government’s Poject TuGoN, livelihood supplies and financial support were extended to 58 former combatants in this province as part of the resolute effort to sustain and enhance peace, justice, and security throughout the Bangsamoro region.
Project TuGon, or the Tulong ng Gobyernong Nagmamalasakit, is a specialized program that focuses in assisting the reformation of various armed groups within the BARMM. It specifically seeks to transform them into productive citizens by providing them with livelihood aid and assistance in their reintegration and mainstreaming into the community.
The Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT) Sulu Provincial Office facilitated the distribution of assistance to the beneficiaries on Monday, December 18.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), a total of P50,000 worth of livelihood assistance and P20,000 cash assistance were released to the beneficiaries.
MTIT-Sulu Provincial Director Dr. Nagdar U. Sasapan stressed that Project TuGoN is not just a one-sided work but a collaborative effort aimed at uplifting the lives of every former combatant in the region.
“Let’s celebrate the continuous peace and development in our beloved province of Lupah Sug. Let us work together in finding ways to elevate the lives of our former combatants,” Sasapan stated during his speech.
“We hope that this is not the first and last, but we will have another batch of Project TuGoN in a very soonest time,” he added.
Imla Abbas, one of the beneficiaries of Project TuGoN, extended his sincere thanks to the BARMM. “Magsarang-sukul kami sin tiyabang kami sin BARMM, hambuuk pa hambuuk. Iban magsukul kami sin unu-unu in kabayaan namu dihil nila ra.”
[We express our heartfelt gratitude to BARMM for helping each one of us. We are also very thankful as they provided us what we asked for.]
