COTABATO CITY—The film entry of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-BARMM) brought home the Best Film Awards during the 1st Documentary Film Festival dubbed ‘Behind the Numbers: PSA Documentary Film Festival’ on Nov. 16, held at Heritage Hotel in Manila.
The festival, spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (NSO), showcased the exceptional stories and creativity of its field offices that will unfold in the said festival.
Aside from winning the Best Film, the PSA BARMM’s Entry entitled, ‘Kwento sa Likod ng mga Numero’ also won three (3) special awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, and Most Impactful Story.
PSA-BARMM Engr. Akan G. Tula, OIC Regional Director, mentioned that this 1st-ever PSA Documentary Film Festival showed the diverse workforce of PSA employees and how they go beyond and above to fulfill the organization’s mission.
“Winning the most prestigious award of the competition, the Best Film and three (3) Special Awards is way beyond our expectations and really makes us proud to be a Bangsamoro,” he said.
“Our documentary not only captures moments but also hearts, highlighting the profound impact our work has on the lives of the people we serve. Our PSA endeavor goes beyond mere public service; it is a noble mission,” Tula added.
He stressed that the documentary goes beyond a job, serving as a vital lifeline for vulnerable individuals.
The team takes pride in their role, enabling those unable to read and write to register for national ID and civil registration documents.
“This achievement is a celebration of our commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve, reinforcing the significance of our work—it signifies that every registration is a step towards empowerment and inclusion,” Tula said. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
