COTABATO CITY—In a move to encourage the adoption of technology among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a skills training program on May 3-5 in Kabacan for three cooperatives in BARMM’s Special Geographic Area in North Cotabato.
The program aimed to equip these cooperatives with knowledge and skills on food safety, good manufacturing practices, packaging and labeling, and halal awareness, to enhance their production lines and operations.
Monawara Abdulbadie, Chief Science Research Specialist, Science and Technology Services, said, “the ministry aimed for MSMEs’ products to become competitive in the market and supply more while adhering to minimum standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”
The training was well received by the participating cooperatives, which included the Pikit 2 Catalyst Association (P2CA), Kapalawan Women’s Association (KWA), and Integrated Bangsamoro Agricultural and Development Association (IBADA) benefited from the training, as they expressed gratitude for the new knowledge and skills gained.
Sittie Sara Kalunsin, KWA President said, “We are grateful to MOST because, with this training, we learned the correct way to put food in the refrigerator, what is called first in and first out. We learned a lot of new ideas.”
Samsudin Malantawan, IBADA President also mentioned that the inputs they gained during the training are important in their daily lives and business.
“The things that we have learned, the knowledge that is helpful and applicable in our daily life, we must do so that we can get blessings from Allah SWT,” Malantawan said. (Majid Nur/BIO with reports from MOST)
