INDANAN, Sulu – The Bangsamoro Government marked another remarkable milestone as it awarded 100 housing units to families in this town, bringing not only new homes but also hope for a better quality of life for the beneficiaries.
Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) led on Dec. 4 the ceremonial awarding ceremony in two barangays of Indanan.
Valued at P620,000 per unit, the newly constructed housing units benefitted 50 families in Barangay Tubig Dakulah and another 50 families in Barangay Langpas. This is part of the BARMM’s overall resettlement and rehabilitation program.
Minister Barra stressed that while MHSD constructs the houses, the beneficiaries are responsible for transforming them into homes.
“I-tuturn-over namin itong mga bahay sa inyo pero kayo ang gagawa para ito’y maging tahanan. Dapat nandoon ang tatlong requirement sa paningin ng Islam, Sakinah (tranquility), Mawaddah (love) and Rahmah (compassion),” Barra said.
[We will turn over these houses to you, but it is you who will turn them into homes. It should embody the three requirements in the Islamic perspective: tranquility, love, and compassion.]
Furthermore, MHSD-Sulu Provincial Director Atty Najira Hassan shared that “this is the first-time awarding ceremony of housing settlement in Sulu. This is a significant event for the BARMM and for the municipality of Indanan and also for MHSD. You were the first to receive a housing unit, and Alhamdulillah, there will be more to come.”
Esmael Ebrahim, MHSD Director General, recounted the sacrifices and struggles of the mujahideen in BARMM, both the Moro National Liberation Front and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, highlighting that these new housing units are just a few among the fruits of their rewards.
“Hindi po magsasawang magbigay ng projects sa inyo ang BARMM lalo na po sa mga lugar na naging bahagi ng history na kailanman ay hindi makakalimutan,” Ebrahim said, adding thate more housing projects will soon rise in the province.
[The BARMM will not get tired of giving projects to you, especially in areas that have been a part of history which will never be forgotten.]
One of the beneficiaries, Montaha Julpara, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the BARMM, stating, “Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng naging bahagi ng okasyong ito. Asahan natin ngayon ang isang hinaharap na puno ng kasaganaan at maunlad na komyunidad.”
[Thank you to everyone who contributed to this occasion. Let us now expect a promising future filled with abundance and progressive community.]
These homes will not merely provide shelter but also stand as a symbol of hope and progress for the beneficiary families. With more housing projects on the horizon, the BARMM is proving its dedication to enhancing the lives of its constituents and creating a brighter future for generations to come. (Alline Jamar M.
