MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE—To ensure the smooth implementation of its various activities, the Chief Minister’s Project Strengthening Access to Livelihood Assistance for Marginalized-Bangsamoro (SALAM) management gathered their assigned focal persons in the mainland provinces on Oct. 23, 2024, in this province.
The program updates focused on policies, changing the name of grantees, closing the beneficiaries’ accounts, including deceased beneficiaries, and rationalizing the current focal persons.
SALAM Project Manager and Senior Minister Abunawas Maslamama explained that the rationalization of focal persons is to improve project management.
“The removal does not reflect on the effectiveness but is intended for the betterment of the office,” said Maslamama.
During the event, focal persons from Maguindanao del Norte/ del Sur, Lanao del Sur, including Marawi City, and the Special Geographic Area were present.
In addition, Projects Administrative and Finance Officer Thomas Sabal clarified the policy for replacing delisted beneficiaries, emphasizing that only immediate family members are eligible.
He also reminded the beneficiaries to adhere to the required maintaining balance in their respective bank accounts to avoid unwanted delays in the processing of their benefits.
Project SALAM is one of the special programs of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, which envisions improving the living conditions of the 13,000 poor individuals and families who are transitioning from combatant to civilian lives.
As of August 2024, a total of 9,799 or 75.38% of 13,000 beneficiaries received their financial subsidy from Project SALAM. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO with reports from Project SALAM)
