COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim is encouraging the Government of the Day to grab the opportunity to intensify service delivery to the Bangsamoro people as the transition period nears its end.
“This is the last full year of the transition period. Let us make the most of the opportunity given to us; let us continue to serve the Bangsamoro with pure hearts and sincere intentions,” said Ebrahim during the opening ceremony of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament’s third regular session on Tuesday, May 15, inside the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city.
Among the highlighted points of the Chief Minister is the passage of the remaining priority legislations, including the Revenue and the Indigenous Peoples Codes before the 2025 Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.
BTA Parliament Speaker Atty. Ali Pangalian Balindong stated during a press conference on Tuesday that these codes are expected to be implemented within 2024, alongside other key legislations.
“We, as the transition Parliament, desire to exercise our mandate, especially in enacting priority bills, for that is our help to the regular Parliament,” the Speaker emphasized.
The BTA Parliament also eyes the passage of the Bangsamoro Labor Code, Gender Development Code, and Bangsamoro Investment Code, which was also mentioned during CM Ebrahim’s speech, earnestly requesting the immediate approval of the bills.
“Indeed, the documents we signed and the laws we passed would be meaningless if these would not result in better living conditions for our people,” the Chief Minister stressed.
Meanwhile, Ebrahim also highlighted other major milestones of the BARMM in 2023, which also include the achievements in the first quarter of the current year.
He particularly highlighted the accomplishments, centered on the Bangsamoro peace process, infrastructure, poverty reduction, socio-economic support, medical aid, education, investments, tourism, and the ongoing budget hearing for the BARMM ministries, offices, and agencies (MOAs), among others.
He underscored that the transitional government furthers all its initiatives for the welfare of its constituents, saying, “We continue to tirelessly fulfill our mandate, implement flagship programs, and institute major reforms and behavioral change.”
Evolving a strong, responsive, and relevant BARMM bureaucracy is the first priority agenda of CM Ebrahim. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
