BARIRA, MAGUINDANAO—To boost the local economic growth and enhance government services in this town, Minister of Interior and Local Government (MILG) Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo led Friday, March 11, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the public market worth Php25-million.
The infrastructure project is funded under the Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Services (BLESS) program to provide and ameliorate Local Economic Enterprise infrastructure and supports facilities of the Local Government Units (LGUs) across the region.
Barira’s new public market is expected to operate and maintain income-generating enterprise support to spur local economic growth and activities, and offer opportunities to constituents in the area.
“This project will provide a suitable public market as well as its neighboring towns and we want the LGU to generate its capacities to have an additional source of income,” said
Sinarimbo.
He said apart from the public market, local residents can also expect various MILG infra-projects for the municipality soon.
“Pauna palang ang mga proyektong ito na nagmumula sa BARMM Government. Titingnan din namin ang water system for the tourism potential,” the Minister added.
Meanwhile, Municipal Vice-Mayor Bahrain Dagalangit expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the BARMM Government.
“The project provided by MILG-BARMM, together with all the road projects and other infrastructure, has helped our people of Barira which was one of the affected towns during the war,” Dagalangit said.
“The sacrifice of the lives of our parents and Mujahideen is now being replaced by the implementation of various projects to improve the lives of the Bangsamoro,” he added.
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) officials also visited Bulubudtua falls, Mt. Makaturing, and Kararao area.
Moreover, officials also inspected the ongoing road construction that will connect Barira in Maguindanao to Butig of Lanao del Sur.
