COTABATO CITY— In line with celebration of Cooperative Month in the Bangsamoro region, the Cooperative and Social Enterprise Authority (CSEA) is providing technical support to selected its registered cooperatives as part of strengthening their operations.
“BARMM is extending its support to selected registered cooperatives by providing technical guidance and capacity building to strengthen the operations of registered cooperatives to be the instruments in alleviating poverty,” CSEA Director Samcia Ibrahim said.
During the kick-off ceremony of month-long celebration on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city, Ibrahim encouraged the participation of all cooperatives in the region to enjoy the spirit and principle of the celebration by simply following the rules and regulations of CSEA—through complying all the necessary requirements for the renewal of the cooperative certificates to avoid penalty.
She also emphasized that the regional government is empowering its constituents through cooperatives in order to build connections among cooperatives and unify them to engage in activities that benefit the people and the economy.
“In BARMM, we are celebrating not only the cooperatives but we are also welcoming the newborn social enterprise that makes our region peculiar with the other region,” she added.
The month-long activity is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 493, s. of 2003, the declaring the month of October of every year as Cooperative Month.
Aimed at encouraging wider participation of all sectors of society in nation-building through cooperativism, the celebration carries the theme: “KooPinas: Nagkakaisang Lakas Para sa Makabuluhan at Sama- samang Pag unlad”.
The cooperative month provides opportunities for different cooperatives to enhance their capacities and sense of leadership through a variety of competitions.
Among the activities lined-up for the whole month include the conduct of series of Pre- Registration Seminars to prospect organizations, technical assistance to walk-in clients, monitoring and validation of existing cooperatives, benchmarking activities for social enterprises, and training on cooperative and financial management to some cooperatives and social enterprises in the entire region.
