COTABATO CITY—A total of 40 families displaced by a fire incident occurred here last week received relief assistance from the Bangsamoro Government on Sept. 8.
On Sept. 5, a fire incident took place at Brgy. Rosary Heights 7 in this city, damaging 25 households, thereby prompting the Government of the Day to provide immediate assistance to the affected victims.
The relief effort was spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in partnership with the Office of Member of Parliament Dr. Hashemi Dilangalen.
The goods, providing each affected family with relief, include 25 kilograms of rice, essential grocery items, dignity kits, hygiene water kits, and tarpaulins.
Aside from the immediate support offered, MSSD Social Welfare Officer III Sandra Gani shared that the Ministry also provided other significant social support measures such as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS), medical aid, and emergency shelter assistance.
“Based on the initial assessment conducted by MSSD para-social workers, in addition to food and non-food items, including clothing, the displaced families need temporary shelters and psychosocial support,” Gani reassured.
The victims are currently staying at the barangay hall, while others have already sought refuge with their family members.
Moreover, in order to simplify the provision of relief aid to the affected families, the MSSD Regional Office, in collaboration with the City Government, will profile the victims using the IDP Profiling, Assessment, and Response Tracking (iPART) tool. (Johamin Inok/BIO with reports from MSSD)
