COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) delivered a livelihood boost to Cotabato City on June 19, 2024, through their Set-A-Kart project.
This initiative aims to empower 20 local vendors by equipping them with essential cooking tools and equipment, ultimately enhancing their operations.
The project, under the umbrella of the Bangsamoro Integrated Livelihood Program (BILP), was formally received by Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Matabalao on celebration of the city’s 65th founding anniversary at the People’s Palace Grounds.
“Nais nating ipahatid ang ating taos pusong pasasalamat sa BARMM regional government, sa pamamagitan ng Ministry of Labor and Employment through Minister Datu Muslimin Sema sa pagbibigay ng 20 Set-A-Kart na pangumpisang panghanapbuhay ng ating mga kababayan sa Cotabato City […] ito ay napakalaking tulong sa ating mga kababayan na nangangailangan,” Matabalao said.
The Negosyo Centers will provide trainings on entrepreneurial mindsetting and bookkeeping for the 20 identified beneficiaries. To jumpstart these businesses, the Mayor will also grant a seed capital of P5,000.
According to Engr. Dimaporo Diocolano, Supervising Labor and Employment Office/MOLE CCFO Head, the Set-A-Kart project goes beyond simply providing equipment.
He said it seeks to “elevate the vendors’ business standards and empower them for long-term success.”
The project is expected to free up resources for the vendors by reducing repair costs on their old equipment. These savings can then be directed towards essential needs like food, clothing, or education for their children. (Aisah Abas/BIO)
