COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta'(BDI), the region’s Islamic advisory council, announced on Friday that the Eid al-Adha prayers will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at exactly 6:00 AM.
The announcement was made by Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, who leads the BDI. The date corresponds to the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar (1445 H).
With this, the Bangsamoro community is gearing up for Eid al-Adha celebrations, marking the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is a significant Islamic holiday commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (Alayhis Salam) unwavering devotion to Allah.
Mufti Guialani said celebrations will officially commence following the Eid Khutbah (sermon) after the prayer and continue until the Ayyam Al-Tashreeq (or the period of sacrificing animals, and the meat is typically distributed among family, friends, and the less fortunate), which will begin on June 17 and conclude with the Maghrib (sunset) call to prayer on June 19.
The announcement further stated that all recognized Eid prayer locations within the Bangsamoro region are encouraged to follow this guideline to promote unity and solidarity during this joyous occasion.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared June 17, Monday as a regular holiday through Proclamation No. 579 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on June 4, to give way for the observance of Eid al-Adha. (Aisah Abas/BIO)
