LANAO DEL SUR—A remarkable two-storey barangay hall, recently inaugurated in Salipongan, Balindong, Lanao del Sur, has set a new standard for village hall aesthetics, leaving spectators in awe with its exceptional architecture and meticulous attention to detail.
The said facility financed by the Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) was inaugurated on May 17, 2023 so that constituents in the area can start availing services in their new hall.
It was designed by technical experts from MILG but the local government has supplemented some of the interior and exterior designs to make it more appealing and convenient for use.
The building is equipped with comfort and shower rooms, conference room, office, and a veranda on its second floor—a place where one can grasp fresh air while enjoying the scenic view of the town.
Its window on the first floor has charming little-square glass with color segments and can be opened independently which enhances airflow and provide proper ventilation.
It has glimmering chandelier on its stairways to the second floor, which gives a palace-vibe walks while holding at the wooden stair handler.
The inclusion of okir design on the building beam ends is noteworthy. Okir is a pattern carved in wood, brass, silver, and depicted in wall paintings, featuring curvilinear lines and Arabic geometric figures, which also represents the artistic originality of the Maranaos.
Moreover, the functionality of the facility is commendable, with the water and lighting systems operating efficiently.
Balindong local chief executive Amer Reggie Bagul said that he is personally overseeing the implementations of various infrastructure project poured into their town and he wanted to ensure that projects are not only durable but also exhibit aesthet value.
“When it comes to infra project, gusto po talaga namin na maganda ito, both structure at sa mata,” the young mayor said.
“Meron pa kaming apat na Barangay hall na galing din sa BARMM na ginagawa at yun nga, parang ganito na yung standard namin na ganito din yung hitsura,” he confirmed.
Village chief Assha Said shared that the inauguration of the hall has ended their decades-long unavailability of proper village hall.
“As far as I remember, this is the very first Barangay hall established in our Barangay,” Said mentioned.
He further shared that when she assumed the responsibility of being the chairwoman, she even utilized their garage to serve the constituents.
The successful implementation of this magnificent project was achieved through the remarkable collaboration between the esteemed mayor and the accomplished lady leading the village.
Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo of MILG, who graciously attended the inauguration, expressed his unwavering dedication to entrusting future projects with the LGU.
“Certainly in the Municipality of Balindong, hindi lang po nasunod yung specifications bagkus ay lumagpas pa kaya parang gusto ko na lang i-MOA sa inyo lahat ng projects,” Sinarimbo said with humor.
Lawyer Sinarimbo shared that building infrastructures such as baranggay hall, public market, police station, legislative bulding, among others are all part of the regional government’s effort to strengthen governance at local levels.
Aside from the inaugurated hall, pool of experts and project implementation team of MILG has also conducted inspections of ongoing project in Lanao del Sur. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
