COTABATO CITY—In a bid to strengthen the BARMM bureaucracy, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) turned over three newly constructed two-storey village hall buildings in Kabacan Cluster, Special Geographic Area (SGA) on August 15.
MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo stated, “The turnover of 3 newly constructed barangay hall buildings are situated in the Barangays of Pedtad, Buluan, and Sanggadong, all of the Kabacan Cluster.”
“I am extremely happy to have these barangay government centers finally inaugurated and turned over to these barangays so they can further improve their services to our people,” Sinarimbo expressed.
The creation of government center halls was part of the Enhanced 12 Point Priority Agenda of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, especially in barangays without buildings or with dilapidated ones, including newly established barangays in the region.
The Minister also highlighted that BARMM comprises a total of 2,590 barangays, with over 400 lacking barangay halls and over 600 having dilapidated ones according to a 2019 survey.
“We are pushing to construct village halls for them before the end of the transition period,” the Minister revealed.
Sinarimbo said that for SGA, it was decided that village buildings would be provided to all 62 barangays, except for Pikit, due to the absence of available land for construction.
“The Government of the Day is aiming that all of us here in 63 barangays shall unite and work hand in hand in the development of our area. I always emphasize that we should make the most out of it while we are still the one governing because this too shall pass so we have given our best in improving lives and our community,” he said.
