COTABATO CITY—A total of 1, 240 indigent senior citizens recipients from Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte received their unconditional cash transfer cards (UCTs) from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) on Monday and Thursday held at the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city.
The UCT Program is a nationally-funded tax reform mitigation program that is being managed by MSSD, which seeks to provide cash grants to poor households or beneficiaries of the Social Pension Program, under Republic Act No. 7432 also known as the Senior Citizens Act.
“This is the payout for unconditional cash transfer (UCT). It is one of the programs of the national government through DSWD which targeted poor Filipino individuals with cash assistance,” MSSD Minister Atty. Raisa Jajurie said.
The grants for the UCT beneficiaries are deposited directly to their Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) accounts, without going through MSSD.
“Our payout today is for social pensioners 120,000 plus should be in the listing all over the BARMM. We are catering today to 1,240 beneficiaries of Datu Odin Sinsuat, but we will also cater to other areas but we have to talk to the management of the land bank near the areas,” she added.
Accordingly, the cash card contained the amount of Php4,600.00 for each recipient. MSSD targets 122,000 beneficiaries for the entire Bangsamoro region. (Majid Nur/BIO)
